Two Minnesotans are among the ten finalists for the 2016 Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

St. Cloud State's Ethan Prow, a senior defenseman from Sauk Rapids and Yale's Alex Lyon, a junior goalie from Baudette were named finalists on Wednesday, according to the NCAA.

Prow has 8 goals and 27 assists and has a rating of +29 this season. He's the only defenseman in the final ten for the award and he leads the nation's defensemen in points and assists.

Lyon was an All-American goalie who led the nation in goals-against average, shutouts and save percentage last year as a sophomore, and this season he has 4 shutouts and the second best goals-against average in the count (1.59) and the top save percentage (.938).

The ten finalists are:

  • JT Compher, Michigan
  • Kyle Connor, Michigan
  • Thatcher Demko, Boston College
  • Zac Lynch, Robert Morris
  • Alex Lyon, Yale
  • Tyler Motte, Michigan
  • Alex Petan, Michigan Tech
  • Andrew Poturalski, New Hampshire
  • Ethan Prow, St. Cloud State
  • Jimmy Vesey, Harvard

The list will be trimmed to three – the "Hobey Hat Trick" – on March 31 with the winner be announced April 8, State of Hockey notes.
