Thursday was a busy day at the offices of the Minnesota State High School League.

A number of topics for pretty much every high school sport were discussed, but the most newsworthy talker is about the 2015 football state tournament.

TCF Bank Stadium isn't available for Prep Bowl weekend in 2015, so the MSHSL has some major challenges, with plenty of opposition.

What will they decide? The Pioneer Press has the alternative plans that will be discussed further when the MSHSL gets together again in December.

  • Playing at other sites, such as the FargoDome or Alerus Center in Grand Forks, N.D.
  • Starting the season a week earlier, on Aug. 10, to allow TCF Bank Stadium to host the Prep Bowl on Nov. 14-15.
  • Shortening the playoffs by having only four teams from each section qualifying. That option wouldn't affect the Super 32, the division for the largest schools in the state.
  • Shortening regular-season to seven games and putting all teams in the playoffs.

The 2014 Prep Bowl will be played on Thanksgiving weekend at TCF Bank Stadium. However, as John Millea reports, state semifinal games in 2014 will be played at various sites because TCF Bank Stadium is unavailable.
