Sharrif Floyd to Linval Joseph: 'I'll give you my toe.'

Have you ever wanted a friend to feel better so badly you've offered to remove one of your own appendages so they'll feel better?

If so, you might understand how Vikings defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd feels. During his chat with the media Tuesday, Floyd offered his interior line mate Linval Joseph his toe, if it means the nose tackle will return sooner.

Joseph was having one of his best seasons in the NFL, before what's been described as a foot injury forced him to miss the Vikings last two games – both losses.

Floyd has had to move to nose tackle, while Tom Johnson has filled in at defensive tackle with Joseph's absence.

"I've been talking to him everyday," Floyd told reporters at Vikings practice. "Please come back. I understand your hurt, I'll give you my toe, or at least give me 10 of your pounds."

According to 1500 ESPN, Joseph has been having a very strong season in the unglamorous role. Week 9 is probably where Joseph received the most attention as he led a Vikings run defense that bottled up Rams rookie Todd Gurley.

While Floyd has played well filling in at nose, it's the first time in his brief career that he's been asked to fill that role, and he says it's been a challenge.

"Every bad thing you can think of is [at] nose," Floyd told reporters Tuesday.

It remains unclear if Joseph will be able to return this week when the Vikings host Chicago. He did not practice Tuesday and it doesn't look positive as the Vikings were working out some other options Tuesday.

So don't expect to see Joseph back, or Floyd without a toe anytime soon.
