Silver lining? 'No setback' for Bradford despite being ruled out 2nd straight week

Well Vikings fans, at least there wasn't any setbacks for Bradford

Just hours after being ruled out for a second straight week due to a knee injury, we may have a bit of a silver lining: Sam Bradford did not suffer any setbacks after testing his knee in Thursday's practice.

It's been a rollercoaster ride of a 2017 season for Minnesota Vikings fans. After posting the best single game of his career against the New Orleans Saints, Bradford's name popped up on the Week 2 injury report as a "limited" participant in practice.

Shortly after the Case Keenum experiment went awry in their Week 2 road loss to Pittsburgh, Vikings fans were told by both Bradford and coach Zimmer that his knee is fine and would be evaluated day-to-day.

After failing to appear on the practice fields on Friday, it was reported the reason for his absence was he was visiting the well-known orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to get a second opinion on his ailing knee.

Football fans know, seeing Dr. James Andrews is never a good thing.

He is usually only consulted for major injuries that require major surgeries. (See Adrian Peterson's ACL in 2011)

Bradford's knee injury has been labeled everything from just a little swelling, bone bruise, twist, banged up, non-contact, etc. The Vikings haven't come out and said just what is going on with the troublesome knee of their franchise quarterback.

Finally, some (pseudo) encouraging news regarding Bradford's knee from USA Today's Tom Pelissero: he reported Sam Bradford did NOT experience any setbacks in his knee since injuring it Week 1. It simply hasn't progressed and improved how the team would like.

For at least one more week, it will once again be Case Keenum under center for the Vikings when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at US Bank Stadium on Sunday at noon.
