Span placed on 15-day disabled list

After missing 13 of the last 17 games with a strained shoulder, the Twins placed Denard Span on the 15 day disabled list Thursday. Span played four consecutive games after missing about two weeks after suffering the injury, but it became clear to the team he wasn't healthy enough to play.

Twins: Span hopes to play this week

Denard Span took batting practice on Wednesday and he believes he's getting closer to playing again. "If my shoulder is ready to go, I'm going to play; if it's not ready to go, there's nothing I can do about it," he said. Span's goal is to play in the upcoming series against Texas.
