For the second time this season, the No. 1 Gopher men's hockey team fell to Michigan State in a shootout, going down Friday after six rounds of one-on-one hockey 2-1 in the decisive, post-overtime session.

After neither team scored in the first four rounds of the shootout, Matt Berry scored for Michigan State and Taylor Cammaratta went five-hole on Spartan goalkeeper Jake Hildebrands to knot things at one.

Michigan State would seal the shootout win in the next round, J.T. Stenglein lighting the lamp before Gopher Sam Warning was stopped by Hildebrands.

The game will officially go down as a 2-2 tie, but for conference purposes, the shootout gives Michigan State two points and Minnesota one.

Michigan State scored their two regulation goals in the first period, but the Gophers clawed back with Hudson Fasching and Justin Kloos scoring to knot the score. Overtime went scoreless with Adam Wilcox and Hildebrand denying multiple scoring chances by the opposing side.

The two sides conclude their series Saturday at 7 p.m. at Mariucci Arena.
