Sports Top 10: What you missed over the weekend

Minnesota's sports teams didn't exactly pile up the victories over the weekend, but there were some amazing stories that developed. Take a look at what you might have missed.

10. The Gophers men's basketball team closed the regular season in style with a 81-63 win over Penn State on Senior Day. Minnesota will play the Nittany Lions again on Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.

9. The Gophers women's basketball team was knocked out of the Big Ten Tournament with a loss to Nebraska on Friday. Today is a big day as they will find out their NCAA Tournament fate during tonight's selection show at 6 p.m.

8. Edina and East Grand Forks claimed state championships in boys hockey. Edina steamrolled Lakeville North, 8-2 and the Green Wave demolished Hermantown, 7-3.

7. Kyle Lowry's triple-double helped the Raptors take down the Timberwolves at Target Center Sunday night, 111-104. That's a bad loss for the Wolves.

6. The Minnesota took just one of a possible four points over the weekend. They lost in Dallas on Saturday before losing to the Blues in a shootout on Sunday.

4. President Barack Obama will have some perfect company today as the Gophers women's hockey team will be honored at the White House for their perfect 2012-13 season.

3. The Gophers men's hockey team earned a weekend split against the Buckeyes in Ohio State. Don Lucia's team closes the regular season this week against Michigan.

2. With NFL free agency set to begin on Tuesday, the Vikings used a three-day grace period to reach out to Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson. Will he end up in Minnesota?

1. Jared Allen's agent says the Vikes sack-master won't return next season. Instead, the Vikings elected to pay big money to 26-year-0ld Everson Griffen.
