Justin Morneau set to return Wednesday

The Twins plan to activate Justin Morneau from the disabled list before Wednesday's game against the Tigers. He's been out with a sore left wrist, but feels good enough to get back in the lineup. He'll also start at first base, according to Ron Gardenhire.

Morneau looks ready for Wednesday return

Justin Morneau is eligible to come off the disabled list Wednesday and it's looking more and more like he'll be in the lineup when the Twins play the Tigers that night. The first-baseman took live batting practice for the first time in two weeks before Monday's game and says he's "optimistic" he'll be in the lineup soon.

Gardenhire hints Morneau will play first base soon

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire says Justin Morneau may get back on the field as soon as this week when the team travels to New York and Tampa Bay.

Morneau isn't ready to play

The Twins are still without Justin Morneau as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. Ron Gardenhire is away from the team for the weekend series in Seattle, but acting manager Scott Ullger reiterated that Morneau won't play in a game until his wrist is ready.

Morneau is pain free, expected back for next road trip

Justin Morneau "doesn't feel any pain" in his wrist, according to general manager Terry Ryan. The first-baseman is expected to start swinging a bat again on Saturday and will likely join the Twins for an eight game road trip when he's eligible to come off the disabled list May 16.

Morneau: DH for now?

Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.

Morneau: 'I'm way ahead of where I was'

Post-concussion syndrome has held first-baseman Justin Morneau to 150-games over the past two seasons. MLB Network caught up with Morneau during a training session to see how he's feeling, and Morneau says he's "way ahead" of where he was at this time last year.

Twins grant Justin Morneau paternity leave

The Twins Saturday placed Justin Morneau on the paternity list as he awaits the arrival of his second child with his wife, Krista. Morneau can be out on paternity leave for a maximum of three games. In Morneau's absence, the Twins recalled first baseman Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Rochester.
