St. Cloud State routs Boston U to reach Northeast Regional final

The Huskies scored four unanswered goals to advance.

The St. Cloud State Huskies scored four unanswered goals to defeat Boston University 6-2 on Saturday afternoon to reach the Northeast Regional finals of the NCAA men's hockey tournament.

After Wilmer Skoog opened the scoring in the second period for the Terriers, Micah Miller put SCSU on the scoreboard with a marker at 12:14.

Nick Perbix extended the lead for the Huskies before Jake Wise tied things up for Boston University. It was all SCSU from there as Easton Brodzinski netted a pair of goals to help the Huskies pull away. Jami Krannila and Veeti Miettinen also got on the scoresheet for the Huskies in the victory.

SCSU's victory could be the first in many for Minnesota schools in the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

Bemidji State will square off against Massachusetts in the East Regional Final while Minnesota-Duluth will look to punch its ticket to the Frozen Four against top-seeded North Dakota in the Midwest Regional this afternoon.

Minnesota State-Mankato and Minnesota will also be in action in West regional action. The Mavericks will face Quinnipiac at 4 p.m. while the Gophers will square off with Omaha at 9 p.m.
