St. Paul Saints giving away $50,000 if a No. 16 seed wins in the NCAA Tournament

They did it last year and it actually happened.
Publish date:

The St. Paul Saints gave away $10,000 last March when the University of Maryland-Baltimore County shocked the world and beat Virginia to become the first 16-seed to win a game in the NCAA Tournament.

The odds of a 16 beating a 1 in the tourney were slim to none last year, and they are again this year but for $50,000, you might feel inclined to retweet and follow just about anyone.

The Saints have upped this years prize money and all you have to do to be eligible to win is retweet this tweet and follow the Saints on Twitter.

Here are the matchups featuring No. 16 seeds this year.

#16 NDSU or North Carolina Central vs. #1 Duke

NDSU lost to Gonzaga by 42 points earlier this season and a date with Duke probably won't bode much better. NC Central played one ranked team (Clemson) and lost by 22.

#16 Gardner-Webb vs. #1 Virginia

Gardner-Webb played one ranked team this season (Virginia Tech) and got blown out by 27 points.

#16 Fairleigh-Dickinson or Prairie View A&M vs. #1 Gonzaga

Fairleigh lost to Big Ten bottom-feeding Rutgers by 35 points and Prairie View A&M started the season 1-11, although they only lost to Baylor by 11 points.

#16 Iona vs. #1 North Carolina

The best team Iona played all season was Yale, a tournament qualifier, but they lost by 16 points.
