St. Paul to host 2016 U.S. Figure Skating Championships

The Xcel Energy Center will host the 2016 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Figure Skating announced Wednesday.

The annual event, held since 1914, is the nation's most prestigious figure skating competition, the Pioneer Press reports.

The downtown St. Paul venue also hosted in 2008, when Mirai Nagasu took the women's title and Evan Lysacek won the men's event:
