St. Thomas, Bethel advance in D-3 football playoffs

Two Minnesota teams are in the Sweet 16 of the Division III football playoffs: St. Thomas and Bethel.

St. Thomas advanced with a 48-17 victory over St. Norbert Saturday at O'Shaunnessy Stadium in St. Paul. The Tommies, now 11-0, play Elmhurst next Saturday, Nov. 24, at home.

St. Thomas' MIAC foe, Bethel, edged Concordia of Chicago, 24-23 to get to the second round. They'll play Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who flattened Duluth's St. Scholastica, 55-10, Saturday.
