Another phenomenal season for the Gopher volleyball team ended Thursday night at the Final Four of the NCAA Championships.

The Gophers, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, lost 3-0 to No. 3 Stanford in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Stanford will face No. 4 Wisconsin in the national title match Friday night.

Stanford won each set 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22.

Minnesota finishes the season with a 27-5 record, earning its third trip to the national semifinals in the last five years.

"It's sad to see this season come to an end, given all the adventures we've been on together," coach Hugh McCutcheon said, via GopherSports.com. "Getting back here for the third time in five years is pretty great.".
