Dallas Stars 4

The Minnesota Wild were no match for the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. The Wild fell to the Stars 4-0 Thursday night in Dallas.

1. Dubnyk under siege

Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk did his best to keep Minnesota in the game, but he wasn't able to stop everything. Dubnyk turned away all 14 Dallas shots in the first period, but in the second the Stars' pressure finally got to him.

But the Wild net minder made a few brilliant saves on the night.

Dubnyk stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced.

2. Turnovers haunt Minnesota

Both of Dallas' first two goals came off Wild turnovers in the neutral zone which led to wide open opportunities for the Stars.

3. Too many penalties

Dallas was the NHL's highest scoring team in the regular season, and the Wild are without a few of their top scorers with Zach Parise, Thomas Vanek and Erik Haula all out because of various injuries.

The Wild didn't help that any Thursday as they added six penalties to the mix.

The Stars finished the night 1-of-6 on the power play.
