State girls hockey: Eden Prairie advances to 2A title game

Eden Prairie's Kelly Wolfe scored the game's lone goal as Eden Prairie beat Edina 1-0 to return to the Class 2A State Championship game Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center.

It was a battle of the goaltenders as Eden Prairie's Alexa Dobchuk and Edina goalie Anna Goldstein dueled in net all evening. Dobchuk stopped all 25 shots she faced and Goldstein stopped 19-of-20.

Eden Prairie will play for their third state championship Saturday against Maple Grove.

Maple Grove outlasts Hill Murray with a 1-0 victory

No. 4 seed Maple Grove is headed to the Class 2A title game as they knocked off previously unbeaten Hill-Murray 1-0 in the final semifinal game of the day at the Xcel Energy Center.

Taylor Wente's second period power play goal was the only offense the Crimson would need to head to the championship in the school's first state tournament appearance.

Breanna Blesi made 43 saves to turn two-time state champion Pioneers away.

Maple Grove will face Eden Prairie in Saturday's championship game.

Class A: St. Paul United holds off Warroad to head to title game

Joie Phelps' power-play goal with 7:39 remaining in regulation lifted St. Paul United to a 4-3 victory in the Class A semifinals at Xcel Energy Center.

Phelps finished with a goal and a pair of assists to lead United to the Class A championship game.

Demi Gardner and Mariah Gardner each had a goal and an assist for Warroad in the loss. The Warriors were hurt by committing nine penalties in the game.

St. Paul United will meet up with Blake in the Class A Championship on Saturday.

Blake headed to fourth straight title game

The Blake School is headed back to another Class A championship game as they beat Proctor/Hermantown 5-1 in the Class A semifinal Friday.

Carly Bullock led the way with a hat trick for the Bears, who improve to 25-2-2 on the season. Blake was the runner up last season, but won state championships in 2013 and 2014.

Sophie McGovern scored the only goal on the afternoon for Proctor/Hermantown.

The Bears and St. Paul United meet up in the Class A State Championship Saturday. Blake won both meetings between the IMAC conference opponents this season.
