State softball: Elk River, New Ulm, Blooming Prairie are champs
Three state softball champions were crowned Friday in North Mankato.
In Class 3A, Elk River defeated Prior Lake, 4-3 in an eight inning thriller. Freshman center fielder Jayme Langbehn robbed Prior Lake of a home run in the seventh, scoring the eventual game-winning run in the eighth, and robbed another homer in the bottom of the eighth.
In Class 2A, New Ulm won a pitchers duel over Kasson-Mantorville, 1-0. Sydney Shuckey pitched seven shutout innings and drove in the game's only run.
In Class 1A, Blooming Prairie beat New Life Academy of Woodbury, 3-1.
