Suter named NHL's third star of the week
Wild defenseman Ryan Suter had an offensive explosion last week, netting four goals of the five he has on the season while posting a plus-six, which helped him earn the NHL's third star of the week Monday.
During the week, Suter helped Minnesota end a franchise-worst six-game losing streak, as the squad got back on track by beating Buffalo and Washington.
Suter's offensive contributions come at a crucial time, as head coach Mike Yeo's future appeared to be in jeopardy before the back-to-back wins, while the Wild also lost Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu to injuries, their first- and fourth-leading scorers.
Carolina winger Jeff Skinner was named the league's top star of the week, while St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott took the runner-up honor.
