Swarzak solid; Twins take 2 of 3 from Cleveland

The Minnesota Twins bounced back after a tough loss to Cleveland Tuesday night, by beating the Indians 3-1 on Wednesday at Target Field.

Anthony Swarzak (2-0) was thrust into the start after Kyle Gibson was scratched. Swarzak pitched five innings and gave up just one run to pick up the victory. It was the first time in Swarzak's career that he picked up the victory in a start against Cleveland.

The bullpen did the rest as Glen Perkins closed out the ninth for his 24th save.

Oswaldo Arcia homered for Minnesota. He was 2-for-4 on the day to lead the Twins. Brian Dozier and Sam Fuld drove in the other two Twins runs.

Danny Santana was 3-for-3 and scored two runs while hitting out of the number nine spot for Ron Gardenhire's club.

The Twins hope that Gibson, who is dealing with back stiffness, can return to pitch Saturday against the White Sox, according to the Pioneer Press.

The Twins (46-54) will start that four-game series with the White Sox on Thursday.
