Minnesota Timberwolves 101

Sacramento Kings 91

The Timberwolves have their first three-game winning streak of the season after downing the Kings 101-91 in Sacramento Friday night. The win evened Minnesota's record at 8-8, as they improved to 6-2 on the road.

1. Bench big

While Andrew Wiggins again led the Timberwolves in scoring (this time with 22 points), a handful of Minnesota reserves turned in strong games. Shabazz Muhammad scored 15 points. Gorgui Dieng contributed eight points and just as many rebounds. Veteran Andre Miller was on the floor when the Timberwolves took control in the second quarter. Miller had eight of Minnesota's points during that 19-3 run and finished with 12.

2. Zach attack

Zach LaVine, who normally comes off the bench, was in the starting lineup Friday while Ricky Rubio nursed an injured ankle. LaVine scored 19 points (14 of them in the second half) while his eight rebounds and four assists both tied for team highs.

3. The missing Cousins

Rubio was not the only injured starter. Sacramento's family was incomplete without DeMarcus Cousins. He leads the Kings in scoring and rebounding but a strained back kept him sidelined for this contest. He could only watch as Minnesota outrebounded the Kings 46-36.

Tweet of the Night

Some say Andre Miller is 39. Others say he has no age.
