Target Field's craft beer selection ranked 7th in MLB

Target Field is great for craft beers, but you might need help finding them.
Target Field

One of the biggest draws to Target Field over the years has been a magnificent variety of local craft beers. From Surly to Summit, the home of the Twins has delivered to thirsty fans for the past decade and has now gotten its due from The Athletic, which rated Target Field seventh in a list of MLB stadiums ranked by craft beer offerings.

The rankings were composed by a group of 100 fans and writers to determine which ballpark had the best craft beer selection in the major leagues. The survey was based on three categories which included a ballpark's selection of top-end beer, their average available beer and how accessible their craft beers were in the park. Each of these categories were rated on a scale of 1-10.

The strength of Target Field, according to the survey, was their wide selection of local craft beers, which earned the ballpark a score of nine for top-end beer.

"Surly, baby," The Athletic's Eno Sarris said. "And Summit, Fulton, Bent Paddle, Third Street, Fair State. … So much of Minnesota’s beer scene is on display at Target Field, and you can’t go wrong with Surly to begin."

While Target Field also got a score of eight with their average beer selection, the downfall was the availability of their craft beers, which is mainly limited to the entrance by Gate 34 and Bat & Barrel overlooking right field.

At the top of the list was a pair of stadiums on the West Coast as Seattle's T-Mobile Park and San Diego's PETCO Park both scored 10s in all three categories. Meanwhile, if want some less-appealing brews, Toronto's Rogers Centre may be for you as it scored a three in all three categories.
