That's 15 straight losses for Timberwolves as Spurs win, 108-93

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost their 15th consecutive game Saturday to the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.

That's the third-longest losing streak in franchise history, three shy of the club record 18.

And with many Wolves stars still injured, it was rookies vs. veterans at the Target Center Saturday night. The Spurs went on several big runs to secure the lead going into halftime and never looked back, despite some futile attempts from the Wolves offense.

“They’re hard to guard,” Wolves coach Flip Saunders said, according to the Star Tribune, after the 108-93 loss. “They know how to play. They know where they’ll be, they have the ability to stretch the floor with three-point shooting. We weren’t defending, we were chasing the first three quarters.”

Saunders plans to have the rookies and second-year players practice Sunday, which is rare following back-to-back games, the newspaper notes.

"We're improving, but we ain't winning," center Gorgui Dieng said, FOX Sports North notes. "We've got to find a way to win. We've got to find a way to win."

The Spurs shot 48.8 percent from the floor, and held the Timberwolves to 39.5 percent. Minnesota did set a single-game free-throw record with its perfect 26-for-26 performance, FOX Sports North notes. Zach LaVine tallied 19 points, Andrew Wiggins had 18.

The Wolves kickoff a four-game road trip Tuesday at Indiana.
