Statewide: Shot clocks voted down
The Minnesota State High School League board of directors voted down a motion to employ shot clocks in basketball games. The girls and boys basketball associations approached the MSHSL with the request to add shot clocks. Consolation brackets have been added to the state tournaments, meaning (beginning in two years) teams that lose their first game will get to play at least another game.

Stewartville: Volleyball coach penalized for violations
Stewartville volleyball coach John Dzubay cannot make any contact with his players over the summer and will be suspended five games next season after multiple rules violations. The coach is also banned from participating in postseason play next season. The Minnesota State High School League upheld the penalties suggested to them by the school.

Hermantown: Emotional end for prep baseball team, player
Duluth Marshall defeated Hermantown 4-0 in section baseball playoffs last night, thus putting an end to a difficult week for the team, but more specifically, senior star player Kole Zuidmulder. One week ago Zuidmulder's father, who was an assistant coach on the team, died unexpectedly from a heart-related issue. “We’re going to have those flashbacks and restless nights, but I know I can call anybody and they’ll be there to talk with me," Zuidmulder said.

Bemidji: Football team gives up 90 points
The Bemidji Axemen were obliterated by an indoor football team from Sioux Falls, 90-20 on Sunday. The 90 points is the most given up by the Axemen in their short history.
