Duluth: Twins' honorary bat girl raising awareness

Duluth's Julie Gross is one of just 30 women in the country selected as an honorary bat girl for Major League Baseball teams. Gross will be introduced on the field before Friday's Twins-Rays game at Target Field, and she's using the opportunity to further bring attention to breast cancer awareness. Gross lost her mother to the disease and has been a strong promoter of awareness ever since.

Byron: Meet Minnesota's all-time leader in softball home runs

Six years of varsity softball, from seventh grade to her still going senior season, Byron High School's Vanessa Anderson has smashed 45 home runs. It's the most in Minnesota prep softball history. Through 18 games this spring she's slugged 13 home runs and owns a rather prodigious .636 batting average.

Ricky Reep is an 18-year-old golfer on the Barnesville varsity team. His story isn't really about golf: the sport is his passion but his story is one of survival. Reep, as a baby, nearly died from shaken baby syndrome. Although his agonizing injuries left him with a limp in his stride, he glides through life with an amazing attitude.
