Mankato: West and East high schools adding lacrosse

Boys and girls lacrosse at the varsity level will debut at Mankato West and East high schools in 2016. The city's two public schools were hesitant to adopt the program in recent years for a number of reasons, but now there is a build-up of youth players, thus laying a foundation for lacrosse for years to come.

Willmar: Area hockey shows award-winning growth

In 2011-12, the Willmar area Mites hockey program has just 35 players. That number has grown to 70 thanks to a closer look at what was deterring families from joining. The rapid growth is good for hockey in the area and the Willmar Hockey Association was recognized by Minnesota Hockey with one of Total Hockey’s Grow the Game Awards.
