The latest rumors on the Twins' search for a starter

The Padres apparently think they can trade for Chris Archer.

Pitchers and catchers have officially reported for duty in Ft. Myers, Florida, and the Twins have yet to add a starting pitcher.

The latest rumors regarding Minnesota's reported interest in Rays right-hander Chris Archer are next to nothing from the last update. LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune says the Rays are interested in Twins outfield Max Kepler, but that's the only update from him.

Neal did however report that the Twins' chances of signing Jake Arrieta, the 2015 NL Cy Young winner, are "remote."

Meanwhile, the beat writer for the Rays had this to say:

"I had thought, really believed, that Chris Archer was going to be dealt. And he may still be," said Sports Day Tampa Bay's Rick Stroud. "But Archer, they still have pretty good control of. It's not prohibitive money for a guy that's going to be your ace. Maybe it happens sometime during the year."

There are also more teams than the Twins looking into a trade for Archer.

According to FanSided, San Diego GM Jim Duquette went on MLB Network Radio on Monday and said his Padres have a legit chance to land Archer in a trade.

As we wait for something, ANYTHING, from free agency, be entertained by this tweet from the Twins that makes this pitcher look headless until you realize the photo was taken from above.
