The lesser known stadium proposals

If you follow the efforts to locate a new Vikings stadium, you're familiar with the proposals from Ramsey County and Minneapolis. But do you know about the plan by The Journal of American Rocket Science? How about the Apple iDome plan?

Sure, Minneapolis calls attention to the Metrodome site or maybe the lot near the Basilica of St. Mary.

And, Ramsey County has acres of Superfund land just calling out for tailgaters.

But, as the Star Tribune points out, there are no fewer than nine stadium proposals submitted by Thursday's deadline.

If that's not high-tech enough for you, there's always the Apple iDome plan (below), promising all the latest design-heavy technology from Cupertino, California.

Ramsey County votes to scout out possible stadium architects

Commissioners voted 4-3 to pitch what's called a "request for qualifications," which will allow the county to approve possible partners and simplify the formal bidding process, which would come later. Those who voted for the action say it will show the team that Ramsey County is an eager partner, but detractors say the team should be in charge of finding architects itself.
