The Minnesota Lynx announced plans to move across the river to St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center for their home games during the 2017 season.

According to a press release from the Lynx, the team will relocate due to the major renovation project and complete shutdown of Target Center that will take place during the summer and early fall of 2017.

Some of those renovations have already begun.

The Xcel Energy Center is home to the Minnesota Wild and home to more than 150 sporting and entertainment events each year.

"I'm thrilled to be welcoming Minnesota's three-time WNBA champions to the City of St. Paul for their 2017 season," said St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman in a statement. "The Lynx are a powerhouse of a team, and an amazing group of athletes to watch – and we hope fans from across the state enjoy doing so from the capital city."

The move will only be a temporary one though. The renovations at Target Center will be completed in time for the 2018 Lynx season.
