The Ryder Cup is returning to Minnesota in 2028

The 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine was one of the best ever.

PGA of America has some exciting news, announcing Monday morning that the Ryder Cup is returning to Minnesota in 2028.

It will return to Hazeltine National in Chaska, the site of Team USA's 17-11 victory over Europe at the raucous 2016 Ryder Cup. And yes, that is the U.S. gold medal-winning curling team in the announcement video.

Hazeltine will become the first American venue to host the Ryder Cup twice, says a press release about the Ryder Cup, which adds that officials from PGA of America and Hazeltine will meet April 10 to discuss plans for 2028.

The 2016 Ryder Cup featured the best of the best, including Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed, with the latter two providing some of the most intense back-and-forth theatrics in Ryder Cup history.

Hazeltine has also hosted U.S. Opens in 1970 and 1991 and the PGA Championship in 2002 and 2009, in addition to other professional circuit men's and women's events.
