Tiger Woods will be coming to the 2016 Ryder Cup tournament at Hazeltine National in Chaska next September.

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III announced that Woods will be one of three vice captains for the tournament along with Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk.

The Star Tribune notes that many have wondered if Woods will be able to recover from his recent struggles and a bad back in time to be able to make the U.S. team, but either way he will participate in the event.

Woods has played in seven Ryder Cups (1997, 99, 2002, 04, 06, 10, 12). He also has experience with the golf course having played in two majors at Hazeltine (2002, 09).

"I'd like to thank Davis for his confidence in me and for my selection as a Ryder Cup Vice Captain," Woods said in a press release. "This is something I want to do. I will continue to do whatever I can to help win the Cup back. Once I'm fully healthy, I'd like to try to make the team too, but either way, I'm excited to work with Davis, the other Vice Captains and the players to get a U.S. victory."

Woods underwent a follow up procedure last month to relieve discomfort stemming from back surgery in September.

"Tiger is doing well, and we expect him to make a full recovery," Woods' neurosurgeon said in a statement.

While that's good news for Woods, there is no timetable set for his return to the PGA Tour.
