The Atlanta Hawks are on fire right now, and the Timberwolves were just the latest team to get burned.

Minnesota just couldn't stay with the Hawks and they lost 112-100 Sunday night in Atlanta. The Hawks have now won 16 games in a row and are on top of the Eastern Conference.

The Wolves, on the other hand, have lost four in a row and 20 of their last 22 games. And they're in last place in the Western Conference, according to the Associated Press.

Thad Young led the Timberwolves with 26 points, Mo Williams had 20 and Nikola Pekovic scored 15 points during 36 minutes of play.

Paul Millsap scored 20 points and Al Horford added 19 to lead the Hawks, according to the AP.

The Hawks led by double digits in much of the second quarter, but Minnesota stayed within striking distance and closed to within six points late in the game.

But the Hawks scored two consecutive three-pointers to bring the lead back to 12 with about 2 minutes to play, and Minnesota couldn't get any closer.

The Timberwolves play at Oklahoma City on Monday.
