Hey it's FM 100.3 KFAN's Joe Nelson and I'm watching out for some excellent games on Friday night. The prep football slate is once again loaded with rivalries. The battle of Lakeville will steal most headlines, but I'm slightly partial to an awesome match-up in central Minnesota. Let's start there!

#7 (4A) Hutchinson @ #1 (3A) Glencoe-Silver Lake
There have been some amazing games between these two teams, but this might be the most highly anticipated game in this rivalries history.

#8 (5A) Shakopee @ #8 (4A) Holy Angels

This will be the toughest test for both teams this season. Their combined 10-0 record goes out the window. Holy Angels hasn't forgotten last year's 62-28 loss to the Sabres.

#4 (5A) Lakeville South @ #5 (5A) Lakeville North

Everything is on the line in this game. Bragging rights, a likely South Suburban Conference title, and the No. 1 seed in Section 2AAAAA.

Rochester Mayo @ #1 (4A) Mankato West
There isn't a ranking in front of Mayo's name, but trust me, they are pretty good and could give the No. 1 ranked Scarlets a fight.

#2 (3A) Holy Family Catholic @ #2 (4A) St. Thomas Academy
The Cadets were supposed to play Edina but the Hornets backed out. STA filled their schedule with a worthy, and very offensively eccentric HFC team.

#6 (5A) Mounds View @ White Bear Lake
If common opponents were the true identifier of how teams will do against each other, then this will be a very close game. Mounds View had a tough fight against Stillwater and won while WBL lost to the Ponies by three.

54 teams are still undefeated after five weeks of football, but only five make the list on Joe Nelson's week five prep football rankings. One of the top five is not undefeated. The most impressive win last week was Wayzata's blowout win over Minnetonka, but it wasn't quite enough to launch the Trojans to No. 1.
