Star Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was arrested in Houston early Saturday morning on a charge of resisting arrest, according to several media reports.

The Star Tribune is citing a Houston Chronicle report.

TMZ.com has posted a 36-second video clip purported to be Peterson being hauled off in handcuffs.

The gossip site TMZ also posted a purported photo of Peterson from the alleged incident, along with some choice comments from the management of the club were the Vikings star was arrested.

The incident is all on surveillance video, NBC's Pro Football Talk reports. That NBC account suggests the trouble was sparked at closing time in a nightclub, and may have involved an officer attempting to take down on the 6-foot-1, 217-pound tackle-evading running back.

An NFL news report says Peterson posted $1,000 bond Saturday morning after spending part of the night in jail. He is slated to appear before a judge on Friday, July 13.

Houston Police confirmed the arrest in this public information report.

The Vikings are aware of the incident but not commenting yet, CBS Sports reports.

Quarterback Christian Ponder told the Star Tribune, "We all have made mistakes. He'll learn from it. We'll be all right." Vikings punter Chris Kluwe adds, "everyone needs to take a breath and wait for some sort of concrete details before getting worked up."

Peterson, 27, has toiled in the offseason to come back from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered on Dec. 24. The sixth-year pro has said he intends to be ready for week 1 of the regular season.

Peterson was recently voted the No. 8 best player in the NFL. This video shows some of the moves he has become famous for:
