The video below is something you've probably never seen before. Freehold Raceway in New Jersey features harness horse racing, and last Friday the pace car spun out of control and crashed into all but one of the horses and drivers in the fifth race.

“In the fifth race, our starting car came around the turn and spun out, and the horses ran into the starting car. It was in their path,” Track General Manager Howard Bruno said, via the Asbury Park Press.

According to, the track was slick but not icy. The temperature was 37 degrees at the time of the accident.

The frightening video clearly shows the horses being knocked to the wet track, with one horse hitting the car head-on. Fortunately,

Four drivers were taken to the hospital after the incident, and two remain hospitalized with injuries ranging from a punctured lung to broken ribs and a concussion. The amazing part of the story is that none of the horses were injured.
