Tom Brady is taking a knee and surrendering to the powers that be in the NFL and federal courts.

In a Facebook post, Brady said he's done fighting his four-game suspension and he'll simply be back for Week 5 of the upcoming season.

"It has been a challenging 18 months and I have made the difficult decision to no longer proceed with the legal process," Brady wrote. "I'm going to work hard to be the best player I can be for the New England Patriots and I look forward to having the opportunity to return to the field this fall."

Brady was suspended after being accused of deflating footballs – accusations that he has strongly denied. But the federal courts and NFL denied his appeals and the only other hope he had to lift the ban was through the U.S. Supreme Court, which was a long shot at best.

With Brady out, the Patriots will hand the keys to backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
