Minnesota took the early lead when Cammarata put them on the board with a goal at the 8:41 mark of the first period. Sam Warning and Justin Kloos assisted.

Rau gave Minnesota the 2-0 lead with his goal just :35 into the second period. After Bemidji cut the Gophers' lead to one, Boyd scored twice late in the second period to put the game out of reach.

Hudson Fasching put Minnesota up 5-1 when he scored with just over nine minutes to play.

Cory Ward cut the Gophers lead to three in the closing minutes, but it was too little too late.

Adam Wilcox stopped 29 shots in the victory.
