The opening day of the Minnesota State Girls' Hockey Tournament went on as scheduled despite a significant snowstorm that prevented some fans from making the trek to Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

By the end of the day, four teams advanced to the state semifinals.

Wednesday scoreboard:

  • Breck 2, Fergus Falls 0
  • Mound Westonka 4, Mankato East/Loyola 2
  • Warroad 4, St. Paul United 0
  • Proctor/Hermantown 3, Rochester Lourdes 2 (overtime)

That sets the stage for Friday's semifinals. Breck, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will face third-seeded Mound Westonka at 11 a.m.; No. 1 seed Warroad takes on No. 4 seed Proctor/Hermantown at 1:30 p.m.

Warroad (27-0-1) and Mound Westonka (23-0-5) could meet in the state title game, and if they do they will both go in without a loss on the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday is the opening round of the Class AA tournament. Here's the schedule:

11 a.m. - #2 Andover vs. Farmington

1 p.m. - #3 Brainerd vs. White Bear Lake

6 p.m. - #1 Edina vs. East Ridge

8 p.m. - #4 Maple Grove vs. #5 Minnetonka
