Minnesota starter Trevor May pitched one of is best games ever Saturday, striking out nine to help the Twins beat the White Sox, 4-3 in Chicago.

May went seven innings without a walk and allowed just six hits, according to MLB.com.

White Sox starter Chris Sale also pitched well, with 10 strikeouts and only one walk in eight innings. But the Twins scored two runs in both the second and the third innings, and that's all the scoring they needed to pull out the win, MLB.com notes.

Minnesota's Torii Hunter and Eduardo Nunez both hit solo home runs in the second inning. The Twins added two more runs in the third on an RBI groundout by Shane Robinson and an RBI single by Trevor Plouffe to take a 4-1 lead, according to the Star Tribune.

May gave up two runs in the bottom of the third inning, and that was the end of the scoring as both pitchers settled down.

Aaron Thompson came on in relief of May in the eighth inning, and Glen Perkins closed down the ninth for his 16th save of the season.

The Twins victory put a bit of a damper on the celebration in Chicago as the White Sox retired Paul Konerko's No. 14 before the game. Konerko's 50 home runs against the Twins are the most against any opponent, according to the Star Tribune.

The two teams close out their weekend series Sunday afternoon. Minnesota sends right-hander Kyle Gibson to the mound to face Chicago's leftie Jose Quintana.
