Trey Burke vs. Ricky Rubio and Shabazz Muhammad: The real Burke

Almost an entire week without checking in on the Trey Burke, Shabazz Muhammad, Ricky Rubio triumvirate? That will not do.

Welcome back to the checks and balances system we've established to keep tabs on the once-Wolf Burke and his NBA progression.

Why do we do this?

Because we’re determined not to let Minnesota fans forget that Burke was once a Minnesota draft pick, with the reason he was traded being Rubio, and what the Wolves got back being Muhammad.

We don’t want this to turn out like the Stephen Curry-Jonny Flynn fiasco all over again, though early returns have it looking like Burke is trending more towards Curry than Flynn.

We’ll stop, it’s way too early to tell, but here’s last week’s look at the three, which had Burke coming out looking golden.

TREY BURKE: Rather than look at Burke's games from the past week, we'd rather give you an inside look into the life of the Michigan alum, done masterfully by NBA.com in their NBA Rooks series.

OK we can't help ourselves, Burke is averaging 15 points and six assists per game this month.

SHABAZZ MUHAMMAD: The UCLA product and Minnesota's top rookie hasn't cracked NBA.com's feature series yet, and he continues to have trouble cracking the Wolves lineup as well.

Muhammad did see six minutes of game time in Minnesota's blowout loss to the Heat on Saturday, going 0-for-1 from the field. His player efficiency rating rests at a not-so-efficient -4.30.

There is no further Muhammad news to report.

RICKY RUBIO: Without Kevin Love, Rubio found some tough sledding at Target Center Saturday.

The Spanish sensation went 0-for-4 from the field, accumulating just one point while turning the ball over six times in Minnesota's 103-82 loss to Miami.

Rubio has dipped to 8.4 points per game, while averaging 3.2 turnovers per contest.

SUMMARY:
In this sixth edition of the Shabazz-io Burke extravaganza, we'd likely award this one to Burke again. Things just aren't working for Rubio, Muhammad, or the Wolves right now, as they've lost seven of their last nine.

But hey, the Jazz are 4-19, so there's that.
