Osseo native Truax battles to draw with Duran on ESPN

There were a number of intriguing elements surrounding tonight's boxing card at the Target Center.

Firstly, Mike Tyson, now acting as a promoter and head of Iron Mike Productions, was in the building for the card, and for $250, some fans got to meet Tyson and sit ringside.

The other major note of import was the local connection with Caleb Truax, an Osseo native considered a top-15 middleweight entering the fight, taking on Ossie Duran, who replaced his original opponent Derrick Ennis who pulled out late with a rib injury.

Truax out-threw Duran the entire fight, but Duran outlanded Truax 121-106 at the fight's conclusion. When it went to the scorecards, all three came in 95-95, meaning the fight would end in a draw.

Duran's corner was furious, claiming the hometown advantage for Truax effected the decision in the fight.

The fallout of the decision appears damning to Truax's hopes of one day getting a chance at a title fight.

In the main event of the night at Target Center, Rances Barthelemy knocked out Argenis Mendez in the second-round to take the IBF Junior Lightweight Title.

Mendez is Tyson's fighter, and the promoter said he would go to the boxing commissioner about the knockout, claiming Barthelemy hit Mendez after the bell, causing the knockout.
