Maya Moore scored 23 points to lead Minnesota in a losing effort against New York, as the Lynx lost to the Liberty 75-71 Sunday evening at Target Center.

The Lynx came out strong in the first half, and were up 43-39 at the break. But the Liberty went on a 20-4 run midway through the third quarter and led the rest of the way, the Associated Press reports.

Minnesota closed the gap to one point, 69-68, with 5:50 left in the game, but the Liberty stretched the lead back to five. The closest Minnesota came after that was two points at the 2:36 mark.

But they turned over the ball four times in their last five possessions, including a steal by New York's Sugar Rogers on the final possession to seal the win, according to the Star Tribune.

Sylvia Fowles had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Lynx, and Renee Montgomery added 14.

Tina Charles led the Liberty with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Epiphany Prince also scored 18 and Tanisha Wright had 16.

It was the second time in nine days the Liberty (22-9) have beaten the Lynx, and in the process they clinched the top seed in the WNBA East.

The Lynx (21-11) still need one more victory or a loss by Phoenix to clinch the Western Conference title, the Star Tribune notes.
