The Minnesota Twins have added to first-year manager Paul Molitor's coaching staff.

The team announced Wednesday that Gene Glynn will be the Twins' third base coach, while Rudy Hernandez will serve as the team's assistant hitting coach.

Both Glynn, 58, and Hernandez, 46, have been longtime coaches on the Twins staff.

Glynn was the manager for the team's Triple-A club, the Rochester Red Wings. The Waseca native was also a candidate for the Twins managerial job when Molitor was hired.

Glynn was 228-208 as the manager in Rochester. He led the team to an International League playoff appearance in 2013.

He also has a lot of Major League coaching experience, having spent 13 years with the Rockies, Expos, Cubs and Giants – including 10 years as a third-base coach.

Glynn attended and played basketball at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Hernandez has 14 years of experience with the organization. He finished his second year in his third stint as a coach with the Gulf Coast League Twins. Hernandez has been a coach at several levels in the organization and has managed in the minors with Rookie Elizabethton and the GCL Twins.

The team says he should be able to communicate effectively with the club's young Spanish-speaking players like Oswaldo Arcia, Eduardo Escobar, Danny Santana and top prospect Miguel Sano.

Tom Brunansky was retained as the team's hitting coach, but The Associated Press notes that several openings remain on the Twins staff, including a pitching coach, bench coach, bullpen coach and first base coach.
