No team in the history of Major League Baseball had done what the Twins did Tuesday night at Target Field: Hit a home run in each of the first seven innings.

In fact, the Twins were the first team to homer in six straight innings to start a game, according to Fox Sports North. So they set the record, then broke their record.

Here's how it unfolded.

  • 1st inning: Brian Dozier solo HR
  • 2nd inning: Jorge Polanco 2-run HR
  • 3rd inning: Jason Castro 2-run HR
  • 4th inning: Eddie Rosario 2-run HR
  • 5th inning: Jason Castro solo HR
  • 6th inning: Eduardo Escobar solo HR
  • 7th inning: Kennys Vargas 3-run HR

For Dozier, it was his 30th homer of the season. He finished the night a double shy of the cycle.

Even more shocking is that Kyle Gibson pitched six shutout innings to lower his ERA to 4.97 – the first time all season he's had an ERA below 5.00. He's had nine straight starts allowing three earned runs or fewer.

The Twins were winning 16-0 in the top of the ninth at the time this story was published.
