The Twins bullpen fell short Sunday, allowing four Milwaukee runs in the eighth inning to give the Brewers a 5-3 win Sunday afternoon at Miller Park.

Torii Hunter tried to get a rally going for the Twins in the top of the ninth with his own two-run homer off Francisco Rodriguez to cut the lead to two runs.

The next two batters went down, but then the Twins got two singles to put runners on first and third as Brian Dozier came to the plate.

Dozier struck out on a called third strike to end the game.

Hunter scored three homers in two games, totaling 11 this season, according to the Pioneer Press.

After six scoreless innings, Eduardo Escobar hit a sacrifice fly to bring Joe Mauer in for the score, putting the Twins on the board.

The Brewers add a run in the bottom of the seventh, then added four in the eighth on two-run homers by Ryan Braun and Adam Lind off reliever Casey Fien.

The bullpen's disppointment overshadowed starting pitcher Tommy Milone's solid performance. Milone pitched six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, two hits and three walks, reports.

Another notable moment was an incredible defensive play by Brain Dozier in the sixth inning. He flipped a slow grounder from his glove to Mauer on first base for the out.

It was a disappointing series for the Twins, who lost two of three games to the Brewers, who at 28-48, are the second-worst team in baseball.

Up next, the Twins travel to Cincinnati to take on the Reds Monday night. Mike Pelfrey is set to open the series on the mound. He has won three of the last four starts in Cincinnati, according to
