The Minnesota Twins still haven't been able to figure out the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers picked up a couple of late runs to pull out a 4-2 victory at Target Field Thursday night.

David Price retired the last 10 Twins batters he faced, pitching eight innings to earn the victory. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three.

Price remains unbeaten on the mound against American League Central teams, and the Tigers continue their dominance over the Twins, having won eight of their 10 meetings.

Three eighth inning doubles from Antony Gose, Ian Kinsler, and Yoenis Cespedes broke open a 2-all game and gave the Tigers the two run lead to put it away.

Mike Pelfrey (5-6) started for the Twins and he was tough as well, but ran out of gas in the eighth. Pelfrey allowed four runs in 7 2/3 innings, while striking out four.

Kinsler led off the game with a solo home run to put the Tigers on the board. Kinsler finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs on the night to lead the Tigers at the plate.

The Twins battled back in the bottom of the fifth – scoring both of their runs. But Minnesota was held to six hits by Price, all singles and no one had more than one hit.

The series continues Friday night, as Ervin Santana makes his Twins debut at Target Field against Justin Verlander.
