Pitcher Ricky Nolasco only allowed one run in the second, and the game was scoreless for both teams through the third and fourth innings.

2. Mauer on fire

First baseman Joe Mauer's bat was on fire Sunday. He went 3-5, almost hitting a home run in the fifth inning which was upheld as a double after the umpire's review. Still, his RBI put the Twins back in the lead. They scored two more runs bringing the score to 5-2 going into the sixth.

Then the Twins worked their bullpen. Fernando Abad replaced Nolasco to close out the inning. Trevor May relived Abad in the seventh, and then Ryan Pressly took the mound in the eighth. The score stood at 5-5.

Detroit's winning run came in the top of the eighth inning when Eduardo Escobar bobbled the relay, allowing Justin Upton to score off a double.
