Report: Kubel signs with Diamondbacks
Twins free agent outfielder Jason Kubel has reportedly signed a two-year deal to play for the Arizona Diamondbacks next spring. He’ll be paid about $15 million, with an option year in 2014. Kubel hit .273 with 12 home runs for the Twins last year in an injury-shortened season.
Twins sign righthander Jason Marquis to one-year deal
The Twins have signed free-agent right-hander Jason Marquis to a one-year $3 million contract. Marquis played for Washington and Arizona last year. The 33-year-old is 104-98 in his career, with a 4.55 ERA.
Twins pick White Sox pitcher in Rule 5 draft
The Minnesota Twins have selected righthander Terry Doyle from the White Sox organization in the Rule 5 draft. Doyle, 26, had a 3.07 ERA splitting time between Class A and Class AA ball last year. The Rule 5 draft aims to prevent teams from stockpiling too many young players on their minor league affiliate teams when other teams would be willing to have them play in the majors.
Twins get pitcher Daniel Turpen from Rockies in Kevin Slowey trade
The 25-year-old right-hander will go to Class AAA Rochester. He was 2-4 with a 4.83 ERA and 11 saves at Class AA Tulsa last season.
