Twins clearing the path for youth movement

The Twins motto for the last 30 years has been to "Build From Within." That's why they didn't acquire any high-priced free agents this offseason -- not yet anyway -- but as the Star Tribune points out, there a plenty of prospects knocking on the door to start the next wave of success at Target Field.

Dave Campbell reports that manager Ron Gardenhire is hoping 23-year old Aaron Hicks wins the starting centerfield job. He was the Twins' first-round pick in 2008.

One of the young guns in the starting rotation is Vance Worley. The Twins acquired the right-hander by trading Ben Revere to the Phillies.

Worley is excited to go from a hitters ballpark in Philadelphia to the pitcher-friendly confines of Target Field.

He also thinks playing in the American League will allow him to pitch deeper into games. National League pitchers have to hit, so he was often pulled from games early so he could be pinch-hit for.
