As expected, the Twins optioned Jason Marquis to Class AA New Britain on Wednesday. The right-handed starter hasn't pitched in a game since March 19 because he was taking care of his daughter, who was injured in a bicycle accident. Meanwhile, Scott Baker was officially placed on the 15 day disabled list, retroactive to March 27.

Baker could start the season on DL

Scott Baker is scheduled to start the Twins' home opener against Albert Pujols and the Angels on April 9th, but a case of elbow tendinitis may prevent that from happening. Baker is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Saturday and Monday, but there is a chance he doesn't join the Twins' rotation until the second week of the season.
