The Twins struggled to drive in runs Sunday as they suffered their third straight loss to the Chicago White Sox, 5-2.

Minnesota had more hits than the White Sox but left 12 runners on base and went 2-for-18 with runners in scoring position. The Star Tribune reports the Twins came into the game 27th among the 30 major league teams in hitting with runners in scoring position.

Pitcher Samuel Deduno allowed five runs in as many innings to absorb his third straight loss. Deduno's record on the season is now even at 7-7. Chicago's Hector Santiago gained his first win in nearly two months.

Just last weekend the Twins pounded out 11 home runs in winning three out of four games in Chicago. But Minnesota has now lost five out of six overall.

Trevor Plouffe scored one of the Twins' runs by doubling and moving up on an error and a ground out. Doubles by Brian Dozier and Josh Willingham produced the other run.

On Monday the Twins will be back at Target Field to make up a game with the New York Mets that was rained out earlier in the season. Kyle Gibson will be on the pitcher's mound. The Twins then head on a road trip to Detroit and Cleveland.
