Twins game postponed due to rain, cold; doubleheader Thursday

The Minnesota Twins' Tuesday night game against the Los Angeles Dodgers has been postponed due to bad weather, the team announced.

The 7:10 p.m. contest was set to be the opener in a three-game home series for the Twins.

It will be made up Thursday, as part of a day-night doubleheader – dropped in after the regularly-scheduled afternoon game.

It's the second consecutive game in which inclement weather forced a postponement. The Twins' scheduled matchup against the Detroit Tigers Sunday was also postponed.

Kyle Gibson (3-1, 3.63 ERA) was scheduled to go for the Twins, Zach Greinke (4-0, 2.45 ERA) for the Dodgers. According to La Velle E. Neal of the Star Tribune, the Twins' rotation will stay the same, just be pushed back a day. So expect Gibson to start Wednesday night against the Dodgers (weather permitting, of course).

The Twin Cities has been hit with more than 6 inches of rain this April, making it the second-wettest April on record. With the rain Tuesday came a slight drop in temperature. Snowflakes appeared on and off in the metro.

Fans with tickets to Tuesday's game have two options, the team says.

1.) Utilize their tickets for admission into the rescheduled May 1 game at 6:10 p.m.

2.) Exchange their unused tickets for a future Twins regular season game in 2014 (subject to pricing tier (additional details below) and ticket availability). Unused tickets may be exchanged only at the Target Field Ticket Office located on Target Plaza off 7th Street.

Tickets aren't subject to a refund, however.
